Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide instruction that will enable students to acquire entry-level employability skills and job competencies in the printing industry and provide hands-on training in the actual live work of printing services to the Department of Corrections (VADOC).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Use basic computer software related to print production and graphic design
  • Utilize machines in a business environment such as copiers and plate making machines
  • Understand and demonstrate operation of sheet-fed offset press and printers
  • Operation of collator
  • Estimate printing jobs and plan for production
  • Demonstrate how to use a stapler, numbering machine, hole punch and folder, as well as other printing equipment
