Description

Objective:

The course objective is to introduce the technical and management activities associated with total lifecycle logistics support focused on the costs associated with maintenance operations, production and support and deployment planning. Students further develop knowledge of the importance and implementation of total lifecycle logistics.

Learning Outcomes:

  • develop strategies for achieving required performance capabilities while minimizing support costs, understanding the logistics footprint and providing the user with the resources to sustain the system
  • master the rules, regulations, processes and activities; understand of the relationships between total costs of ownership versus purchase costs
  • explain logistics operational planning considerations to include metrics, policies, forecasting, technology, and budgeting
  • describe sourcing considerations to support logistics operations
  • discuss delivery considerations such as receiving, warehousing, and material management
  • describe maintenance considerations including contracts, warranty, and supply of repair parts
  • explain return considerations such as return processes, waste management, recalls, and disposal
