Objective:

The course objective is to teach students about forecasting and demand planning as it relates to supply chain management at the VA. This course explores inventory planning, receiving, and distribution processes.

Learning Outcomes:

  • examine how the FAR applies to VHA Procurement
  • summarize the fundamentals of supply chain management
  • apply understanding of supply and demand planning activities, such as economic order quantity, par levels, and periodic reviews to determine customer needs
  • describe how customer satisfaction is defined by policy and accomplished through supply chain management
  • describe the techniques that make up supply planning
  • identify and summarize success measures, data sources, and data retrieval processes that may be used to obtain metrics related to demand planning, receiving, and distribution
