Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide the student with entry-level knowledge and application of project management across the entire lifecycle of a project.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the concept definition, planning, development and implementation, operations and maintenance phases
  • Relate project solutions to concept definition and their impact on the strategic statement of need
  • Organize project activities around a federal project management life cycle
  • Develop a product-oriented work breakdown structure (WBS) and requirements
  • Relate laws, regulations, and organizational policies to the development and implementation phases
  • Execute plans during the development and implementation phases (both project management plan and the acquisition plan)
  • Execute plans during the Implementation phase (both project and acquisition management plan)
  • Prepare an action plan
  • Distinguish the Earned Value Management (EVM) requirements reporting during periodic project intervals from the final EVM project report
  • Complete the process for project closeout
  • Lead a team to achieve project goals
  • Apply best practices in executing a project management plan
  • Select the most appropriate approach to complete a project, using project attributes as a basis
