Description

Objective:

To cover fundamental accounting concepts and processes emphasizing the collection and processing of accounting information for external financial reporting purposes, and on the interpretation and use of this information in business decision-making, with attention to emerging issues in accounting for international transactions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Prepare ledger accounts, journalize transactions, and post entries
  • Describe the special accounting requirements of a merchandising business
  • Discuss the necessity for internal control, and identify internal control procedures which increase accuracy and protect company assets
  • Identify basic accounting terminology
  • Recognize and prepare various reasons why adjusting and closing entries are made
  • Analyze comparative financial statements to appraise the financial and operational positions
