Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with a comprehensive and rigorous understanding of financial theory, practices, and applications. Through a holistic approach that combines theoretical concepts, practical examples, and real-world case studies, students will develop mastery in various aspects of finance. They will build a strong foundation in financial principles, including the time value of money, risk and return, and financial statement analysis. Furthermore, students will acquire proficiency in using financial tools and techniques for decision-making. This course will enable them to evaluate investment opportunities using advanced techniques such as net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), and sensitivity analysis, while also appreciating the role of risk and uncertainty in investment decisions. Students will delve into the intricacies of financial markets, including stock, bond, and foreign exchange markets, and analyze various financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, options, and derivatives in the context of portfolio management. Corporate finance will be explored, encompassing capital budgeting, capital structure decisions, and the evaluation of financing choices' impact on a firm's cost of capital and overall value.
