Description

Objective:

The course objective is to introduce students to critical thinking foundations and logical reasoning concepts. These concepts will be applied through various individual and team exercises which will force them to think outside their normal comfort zones and consider alternative explanations.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify various analytical techniques and methodologies for individual complex problems
  • Choose the most appropriate technique(s) for the applicable problems
  • Acutely decompose complex problem sets into subsets and questions to accurately respond
  • Identify and overcome typical 'Group Think' mentalities and ensure that proper group problem solving techniques are utilized
  • Formulate alternative points of views and solutions to problems
  • Exercise critical thinking skills when approaching their daily work
  • Successfully analyze complex problems with minimal effect of cognitive biases or preconceived mindsets

  • Basic logic theory, argument analysis, logical fallacies, analysis of competing hypotheses, cognitive biases and mindsets, groupthink strategies, and solving logical reasoning problems
