Description

Objective:

To give Federal managers an opportunity to understand and examine the science and technology policy apparatus through which the U.S. will meet the challenges of the 21st century, and to enable Federal managers to anticipate and respond effectively to those challenges. Selected issues of national and international importance are used as vehicles for addressing policy development and the role of managers in science and technology in implementing those policies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Have a current perspective on the Administration's policy initiatives and priorities in selected areas of science and technology
  • Have a greater understanding of the role of science and technology in the national interest
  • Have learned about the development, funding, and implementation of science and technology policy in Federal agencies, and about how economic, political, and social trends affect the future of science and technology
  • Have an enhanced ability to recognize important connections between scientific research and technology development in achieving national goals
