Description

Objective:

The course objective is to ensure Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel can make critical decisions effectively during an emergency/disaster by employing the appropriate EMS functions in Incident Command System (ICS) knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and decision-making techniques.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply the ICS, as defined by the NIMS, at emergency incidents.
  • Determine appropriate EMS personnel positions within ICS for a variety of incident types.
  • Use pre-incident information for incident scene decision-making
  • Identify and order necessary resources, using ICS guidelines, for a best-practice response to a variety of incident types.
  • Manage on-scene EMS activities to maximize personnel and scene safety.
