Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide the training required to handle a detection canine in any field location or environment.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the proper use and care of the equipment used in working a detection canine
  • Apply the pre-search ritual techniques used to perform a pre-search ritual
  • Identify the goals of the exercises within the concealed human detection training progression
  • Apply the proper advantages and procedures of a patrol route in a field situation to be followed in its training and maintenance
  • Interpret the instincts, drives and character traits seen in all canines as well as the causes of aggressive behavior and the precautions you should take with a canine
  • Identify aspects of canine behavior appropriate to the search for trained odor in a canine search
