Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide training and certification in all aspects of canine behavior, along with case law, handling, training, problem solving and employing human remains detection canine teams in all applicable CBP environments. Function as the local canine expert in canine administration, incident investigation and canine team training.

Learning Outcomes:

  • interpret the instincts, drives and character traits seen in all canines as well as the causes of aggressive behavior and the precautions you should take with a canine
  • identify the procedures for ensuring safe deployment of canine teams
  • provide mandated maintenance training and recertification of canine teams
  • be able to identify and apply proper case law in the deployment of human remains detection canine teams
  • provide technical assistance to field commands in the deployment and administration of a human remains canine program
