Description

Objective:

The course objective is to reach a Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B1 level of proficiency in the Spanish language which will enable Officers to communicate and effectively carry out job related duties. At a B1 level of proficiency a learner can: understand points regarding family, work, school, or leisure-related topics. In addition, be able to inquire about travel, purpose, destination and decipher simple text.

Learning Outcomes:

  • use the Spanish language to communicate with travelers to solicit basic information related to travel, immigration, and customs in land border, airport environments, and everything in between to resolve high and low risk or threat encounters
  • support the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) mission and offices in the effort to detect and interdict terrorists and instruments of terror
  • detect and interdict the unlawful movement of people
  • detect and interdict the movement of illegal drugs and contraband
  • facilitate the flow of lawful goods and items in and out of the country.
