Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide Customs and Border Protection firearms instructor candidates with the tools necessary to conduct firearms training safely and effectively. The course focuses on CBP's weapon systems, to include their operation, care, and maintenance. It also introduces new instructors to proper use of force techniques, teaching techniques, tactics, scenario-based training, and identifying and resolving shooter problems and errors.

Conduct an advanced firearms training exercise (AFTE)
Perform line instructor duties
Present a firearms lesson objective
Provide answers to use of force related questions; perform armorer level II responsibilities
Instruct shooters on the operation of an authorized CBP carbine
Conduct scenario-based training
Instruct shooters on the operation of an authorized CBP shotgun
Instruct CBP personnel on tactics
Instruct tactics and techniques of low-light firearms operations
Present a range safety-briefing
Enter information into the enforcement action statistical analysis and reporting (E-STAR)
Provide care for casualties, utilizing the appropriate components of the IFAK
Instruct shooters on the operation of an authorized CBP handgun
