Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide Customs and Border Protection firearms instructor candidates with the tools necessary to conduct firearms training safely and effectively. The course focuses on CBP's weapon systems, to include their operation, care, and maintenance. It also introduces new instructors to proper use of force techniques, teaching techniques, tactics, scenario-based training, and identifying and resolving shooter problems and errors.

  • Conduct an Advanced Firearms Training Exercise (AFTE)
  • Instruct shooters on the operation of an authorized CBP pistol
  • Provide answers to use of force related questions
  • Provide care utilizing the appropriate components of the first aid kit
  • Instruct shooters on the operation of an authorized CBP shotgun
  • Perform line instructor duties
  • Conduct training in de-escalation and the legal application of force Evaluate safe weapon handling skills with CBP firearms in a dynamic environment
