Objective:

The course objective is to provide planners the collaborative planning skills needed to conduct and lead complex master planning efforts that address overall installation planning, area development planning, and form-base planning.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize the reasoning behind master planning, and the process and products of master planning in the Army
  • Identify the fundamental rules of AT/FP in planning and the role that anti-terrorism/force protection has on the physical landscape
  • Recognize how to create a planning vision statement
  • Recognize the components and process of an ADP
  • Identify planning challenges and strategies to solve those challenges in the host city
  • Implement the basic facts of street and parking design
  • Identify the elements of a pattern and how to extract patterns from an analysis of the built environment
  • Evaluate how the DoD's 10 master planning strategies are applied in the host city's planning and design efforts
  • Recognize the process of professional development for federal planners
