Description

Objective:

The course objective is to educate law enforcement and non-commissioned personnel assigned to investigative tasks and duties such as crime scene investigators, fire investigators, detectives, medicolegal death investigators, patrol officers, corrections officers and forensic nurses. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to recognize human trafficking situations and discuss the investigative process including non-government organizations and the legal issues that could be involved.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the important roles of Non-Governmental Organizations in the identification and prevention of human trafficking.
  • Recognize the legal issues surrounding human trafficking including roles of prosecutors, statutes in Texas, and federal vs. state charges.
  • Outline the investigations of human trafficking including resources and victim recovery methods.
  • Outline the identification of human trafficking victims and investigation strategies including common traffickers and types of investigations.
  • Explain the history, forms, and identification challenges of human trafficking.
