Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to assume a team leader position for managing personnel assigned to medical treatment and transportation during a disaster or a large-scale incident.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Perform the role of Ambulance Strike Team/Medical Task Force Leader (AST/MTF) in the broader Incident Command System (ICS) context of a simulated large-scale incident
  • Explain the Ambulance Strike Team/Medical Task Force Leader (AST/MTF) concept and analyze an Incident Action Plan (IAP) for a given response scenario
  • Perform the safe and efficient deployment of an Ambulance Strike Team/Medical Task Force Leader (AST/MTF) to an incident
  • Manage an Ambulance Strike Team/Medical Task Force Leader (AST/MTF) team in a leadership role
  • Perform at assigned status in a scenario based on an understanding of the different status types
  • Utilize special tactics relevant to large-scale events and other Ambulance Strike Team/Medical Task Force Leader (AST/MTF) responses
  • Respond to an emergency as an Ambulance Strike Team/Medical Task Force Leader (AST/MTF) in accordance with regulations and best practices for their states
