Description

Objective:

The course objective is to educate law enforcement officers, normally with a minimum of two years' experience. Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to demonstrate the ability to perform basic criminal investigation.

Learning Outcomes:

  • describe what is involved in a basic criminal investigation
  • use a variety of methods to produce leads during an investigation
  • apply knowledge gained from evidence at a crime scene to witness interrogation
  • demonstrate the ability to use legal instruments in the course of an investigation
  • apply report-writing and courtroom presentation skills to the preparation of a case
  • describe special investigative issues surrounding specific types of crimes
