Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with an overview of the health care system; its organization and the various components that play a role in the assessment for, development of and implementation of health policy.

Learning Outcomes:

  • comprehend the general development, implementation and use of "policies" in society
  • analyze health policy, and the variants, determinants and analysis of health policy as it relates to the health care system
  • contrast the differences between individual health and community health
  • outlining gap and overlap areas, while distinguishing the uses of health policies in both sectors
  • compare the various "stakeholders" in health policy development and implementation
  • and evaluate the roles they play
  • identify and evaluate health policies that impact individuals and communities on local, state, national and international levels
  • interpret and summarize the role of research, analysis, and peer review in the development of solid, impact oriented health policies.
