Description

Objective:

The objective of the course is to provide an in-depth view of the structures and functions that govern the human body. The course investigates the organization of the human body from the cellular and tissue levels to the organ and system levels. Investigated systems in this course include the integument, muscular system, endocrine system, skeletal system, and nervous system. Finally, this course will explore conditions and pathologies that negatively impact the physiological functions of these systems.

Learning Outcomes:

  • identify the levels of organization, including the chemical level of organization, of the human body
  • determine relative positions of body parts with appropriate anatomical terminology
  • summarize the chemical level of organization in the human body
  • describe cellular structure and organization
  • categorize the structure and function of the integumentary system
  • illustrate the structure and function of the skeletal system
  • explain the structure and function of the muscular system
  • interpret the structure and function of the nervous system
  • recognize the structure and function of the senses
  • discuss the structure and function of the endocrine system
