Description

Objective:

The course objective is to explain theories and factors influencing physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development throughout the human lifespan, from conception to death.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Use key principles and theories of developmental psychology to analyze how various factors influence human growth and behavior across the lifespan.
  • Apply appropriate research methods to study real-world scenarios, predict outcomes, and propose evidence-based strategies related to human growth and development.
  • Explain the effects of genetics on human development, including chromosomes, inheritance, and gene-environment interaction.
  • Describe the processes of conception, factors influencing prenatal growth, and the methods and risks associated with the birth process.
  • Explain physical and cognitive development and appraise the importance of nutrition, health, safety in the first two years of life through early childhood
  • Describe key aspects of development in middle childhood, including physical growth, motor skills, health and fitness, peer relationships, and the role of school
  • Describe adolescent development, emphasizing physical, cognitive, and social influences on identity formation.
