Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enable students to achieve a basic working understanding of reading and listening to the Tausug dialect. The students will learn Tausug grammar and construct written compound sentences. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of the Muslim culture and religion and the impact on the Tausug day-to-day life. The student will be able to gauge their abilities through daily quizzes, exercises, iso-immersion training events, and assessment tests.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop a basic understanding of the Tausug dialect
  • Proficiently translate written and spoken Tausug using a dictionary and participate in basic conversations
  • Build vocabulary dealing with a wide variety of topics to include high-frequency Tausug words, military, marketing, geography, cultural, religious, colors, numbers, weather, and medical terminology
  • Gain an understanding of Islam as it relates to the Tausug culture
