Description

Objective:

The course objective is to train law enforcement intelligence personnel, working in an analytical role, the most preferred and relevant intelligence processes used in order to turn collected information into usable intelligence. These processes are not new; however, there is a significant difference between understanding each of these processes as stand-alone functions and understanding how each of the processes can be used to mutually support each other for the best possible outcome when it comes to framing a problem set and executing directed and feasible targeting. The goal is to ensure that students attending this course leave with a better understanding of how to intertwine the processes to achieve more focused analysis when it comes to the threats they encounter in their day to day work. The structure and the flow of the course are designed to follow the phases of the intelligence cycle including Planning and Direction, Collection, Processing and Evaluation, Analysis and Production, and Dissemination.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Perform the steps of the Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (IPOE) process
  • Demonstrate an understanding of collection terms and principles
  • Utilize Criticality Accessibility Recuperability Vulnerability Effect Recognizability (CARVER) to prioritize a list of targets
