Description

Objective:

In this advanced IPB course, students will engage deeply with the steps and sub-steps of the IPB process, utilizing it as a comprehensive tool to systematically analyze and critically evaluate the adversary and environment in a specific geographic region. Through performance evaluations, structured critiques, and analytical reflection essays, students will synthesize their findings to create detailed and actionable intelligence products that enhance the decision-making process for Commanders. By the end of this course, students will have developed the capacity to not only perform IPB tasks but also to critically assess and innovate upon the IPB process to address complex, real-world challenges in the battlespace

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically evaluate Marine Corps doctrine and the IPB process to assess their applicability in various operational contexts
  • Analyze and interpret the Operational Environment as part of the IPB, process, identifying key factors and their potential impact on operations
  • Evaluate the effects on operation as part of the IPB process, providing a comprehensive assessment of how different variables influence operational outcomes
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the adversary as part of the IPB process, critiquing their capabilities, intentions, and potential strategies
  • Determine and analyze the adversary course of action as part of the IPB process, formulating responses based on detailed threat analysis
  • Create a comprehensive written intelligence estimate that integrates multiple sources of intelligence and provides actionable insights for decision-makers
  • Develop and deliver an initial Staff Orientation Brief that synthesizes complex information, utilizing advanced presentation techniques to effectively communicate to them
