Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enable students to maintain current proficiency or improve a “+” level in at least one modality of Reading and Listening for those students testing in the Defense Language Proficiency Test. Students will participate in various exercises, including quizzes, oral interviews, iso-immersions, class projects, reading Tagalog news articles, and watching Tagalog videos. The students will test their abilities at the end of the course with a reading and listening assessment test.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an increased comprehension of written and spoken Tagalog
  • Converse in Tagalog with limited grammatical errors
  • Increase Tagalog vocabulary in a broad variety of topics to include high frequency Tagalog words, geography, marketing, legal, agricultural and fishing terminology
  • Improve knowledge and awareness of Filipino culture, social issues, and current events.
