Description

Objective:

The course objective is to cover the structure and functions of the organ systems, as a continuation of Anatomy and Physiology I. The course begins with the cardiovascular system investigating topics, such as blood, the heart, blood vessels, and circulatory pathways. Students explore the endocrine (hormones), lymphatic, immunity, and respiratory systems. Students also investigate how the body obtains energy and controls the composition of fluids with lessons about the digestive and urinary systems, metabolism, and nutrition, as well as fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance. The course concludes with an in-depth look at human reproductive systems, human development from a single cell to an infant, labor and birth, inheritance, and genetic disorders.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Indicate the structures involved in the movement of blood.
  • Generalize chemical signaling, immunity, and gas exchange in the body.
  • Determine how the body obtains energy and controls the composition of fluids.
  • Determine the structures, processes, and genetics involved in human reproduction.
