Objective:

This exam was designed to evaluate whether candidates possess the knowledge and understanding that would be gained by taking a lower-level college course in technical writing which includes the following content: theory and practice of technical writing; purpose, content, and organizational patterns of common types of technical documents; information design; and technical editing.

Skills Measured:

The skills measured include theory and practice of technical writing (14 percent); purpose of technical documents (13 percent); persuading and making recommendations (10 percent); technical writing process (14 percent); document design (9 percent); strategies and document design (9 percent); revising, editing, and final sections (12 percent); editing (10 percent); and final sections (9 percent).
