Description

Objective:

This examination is a multiple-choice exam designed to evaluate whether candidates possess the knowledge and understanding that would be gained by taking an upper level college course in Fundamentals of Counseling. Content specifications for the exam were developed and approved by a panel of subject matter experts, all U.S. accredited college faculty members who are teaching or have taught a like course within the prior 3 years.

Skills Measured:

The skills measured include historical development (5 percent); counselor roles and functions (23 percent); the counseling relationship (12 percent); theoretical approaches (24 percent); social and cultural foundations (12 percent); career development (6 percent); human growth and development (8 percent); and assessment and appraisal techniques (10 percent).
