Description

Objective:

The course objective is to review basic manufacturing and materials processing techniques, teach the basic science of manufacturing, related materials, specific manufacturing methods, and the theory of the automation of today's manufacturing environment, productivity and quality improvement systems.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the characteristics of materials used in manufacturing
  • Describe cutting, forming, and joining processes used in industry
  • Explain the modern quality assurance program, including basic statistics
  • Explain tapping, threading, reaming and breaching operations
  • Explain basic concepts behind modern production facilities and the techniques that are required to achieve and end-product
