Objective:

The course objective is to provide an introduction to the science of nutrition, including how the human body takes in, breaks down, and uses nutrients.

Learning Outcomes:

  • describe how nutrition supports a body's wellness
  • recognize the body's use of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins
  • explain the body's use of water, minerals, and micronutrients
  • discuss what nutritional needs are for a healthy weight and for an athletic lifestyle
