Description

Objective:

The course objective is to develop more effective personal communication skills to increase chances for professional success. Students will identify the basic tenets of interpersonal communication, including diction, gesture, tone and facial expression, and practice methods for improving their skills in each area. Students will also improve their listening skills. The course also reviews the standards for professional communication, including making introductions, interviewing, and dressing professionally.

  • Identify common body language signals
  • Explain the two principal ways active listeners process information
  • Describe the key attributes of effective speech
  • Define the term active listening

  • Lesson 1- interpersonal communication: oral communication, body language, listening skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Lesson 2 - graded project interpersonal communication: voice and diction, listening, speaking, eye contact, and body language
