Description

Objective:

The course objective is to help students document meaningful experience in community service and to foster the development of perspectives necessary for effective community development.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize the theological, philosophical, and theoretical bases of service-learning
  • Develop personal research and plan volunteer-/or vocation-based service-learning projects
  • Design and be personally engaged in examples of service-learning he or she considers meaningful, as based on his or her own personal value system and core beliefs
  • Report on one's success in meeting his or her identified service-learning goals and describe personally-transforming experiences through using various forms of contemporary rich media
  • Demonstrate insights from the life-changing moments of the service-learning experience through journalistic-style writing, creative story-telling, or by meaningful digital images of one's service-learning projects to others using popular social media out
