Description

Objective:

To provide entry-level contracting personnel with an understanding of contracting processes and procedures for commercial and non-commercial items, and to develop judgmental skills in planning for, awarding, and administering contracts for materials and services.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define the objectives of the Federal acquisition process
  • Describe the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) system and the underlying sources of Federal contract law
  • Discuss the roles and responsibilities of major players in the acquisition process
  • Identify and explain the principal contracting functions
  • Describe methods of procurement, types of contracts, and basic requirements for the contractor
  • Explain the standards of conduct that apply to the acquisition process
  • Recognize properly prepared documentation for this phase of contracting
