Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) with an awareness of the knowledge and planning strategies needed to protect lives, property, and the environment by supporting incidents more effectively within the context of comprehensive emergency management.

Learning Outcomes:

  • recognize the importance of emergency planning as it relates to the unique needs of an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) and the functional capacities of your emergency management planning team
  • identify hazards that present risks for IHEs and the impacts of those hazards
  • identify the process and benefits of conducting a risk assessment
  • create a partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • identify and assemble a planning team
  • develop or revise a multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)
  • develop and implement a strategy for training and testing the EOP.
  • define comprehensive emergency management
