Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide participants with the requisite knowledge to more effectively address issues concerning placement of manufactured homes and recreational vehicles in the floodplain; National Flood Insurance Program and flood insurance principles for the floodplain manager; higher standards in floodplain management; andhydrology and hydraulics for the floodplain manager.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the concepts of hydrology and hydration used in floodplain management and legislation
  • Develop the knowledge and skill to be an advocate for higher standards in floodplain management
  • Identify the principles and implementation process for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
  • Implement measures to reduce loss to manufactured homes in floodplain management
