Description

Objective:

The course objective is to improve student listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in Russian using authentic materials rated at ILR level 2+ to 3; improve their Russian socio-cultural competence.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Evaluate the quality of found materials on course topics through peer dialogue
  • Demonstrate comprehension of materials including technical jargon within topical fields
  • Present a topic from a list of options to demonstrate intermediate proficiency using appropriate vocabulary and more complex sentence structures.
  • Apply higher order thinking skills to locate appropriate materials from the Russian-language Internet which are relevant to course topics
  • Analyze the author's point of view, including recognition of hidden assumptions, humor, and emotional overtones
