Objective:

The course objective is to address Transformational Leadership Theory and the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, and allow for learning, analysis, evaluation, and application through activities, videos, group interaction, self-reflection, a debate, an assessed essay, and a plan for action and application.

Learning Outcomes:

  • evaluate the known practices of exemplary leaders with focus on practical ways of incorporating those practices in students’ position/organization/mission
  • correlate the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership to personal/professional and mission success to determine a path of behavior change
  • validate which components of TLT and the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership apply to hypothetical and/or actual scenarios presented in the course
  • plan for practical application of the new behaviors associated with TLT and the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership in their position/organization
  • Analyze the fundamental aspects of Transformational Leadership Theory (TLT) in relation to students' own demonstrated leadership behaviors to identify key areas requiring additional practice and application
