Description

Objective:

The course objective is to develop learner skills and schemata to comprehend and produce idioms and humor corresponding to the Russian mentality and common forms of expression at various levels of modern Russian society. This one-week, advanced-level course aims to provide students with training that will improve their skills as analysts of the modern (i.e. real) Russian language.

  • contrast differences between varieties of idioms and humor
  • detect idiom and humor-expressed emotional overtones, implications, and hidden assumptions
