Description

Objective:

The course objective is to explore and strengthen leadership and management skills necessary to manage a garrison Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (Family and MWR) Support Services Division. Major topics include: customer service, trends, leveraging resources, innovation, strategic thinking, and change management. Students will examine their own leadership styles and organizations to ensure knowledge is applied to real-life challenges that impact quality, affordability, availability, and accountability.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Assess leadership and its influences on an organization and apply individual leadership styles and behaviors to improve the organizational environment
  • Analyze and project future trends in community recreation and develop strategies for programming within FMWR
  • Create a vision of the future for support services
  • Devise and implement personal leadership plans
  • Develop strategies to leverage support operation resources to maximize support to programs and services in a changing environment
  • Develop the communication skills necessary to implement change and foster a motivated work environment
