Description

Objective:

To provide Recreation Program Managers with the systems thinking, financial management, program planning, program delivery, and leadership tools required to lead and manage a quality, customer-driven recreation program.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify their primary purpose and role on their team, analyze their contributions to that team, diagnose team dysfunction, and take positive action to correct deficiencies and improve team results
  • Embrace Recreation Delivery Systems (RDS) and systems thinking by developing long-term programming plans that are both cooperative and collaborative
  • Analyze various financial reports to determine program limitations and fiscal health
  • Forecast contribution margins and apply breakeven analysis to programming and effective budgeting
  • Formulate short- and long-term goals for Recreation programs based on market research, customer feedback, and recreation trends
  • Evaluate the recreation program effectiveness based on established metrics or benchmarks and improve programming in the out years
  • Create a team-oriented environment that supports internal and external partnerships
