Description

Objective:

The course objective is to explore and strengthen leadership and management skills necessary to manage a garrison level Family and MWR Business Operations Division. Course content will focus on organizational challenges and opportunities for leaders. Students will examine their own leadership styles and organizations to ensure knowledge is applied to real-life challenges that impact quality, affordability, availability, and accountability.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Devise a plan to improve personal leadership
  • Analyze current and project future trends in business and develop strategies for programming within Family and MWR
  • Use a systems approach to recreation delivery to formulate a vision that promotes buy-in, incorporates customer needs and external trends, and recognizes and mitigates associated risks
  • Assess leadership and its influence on an organization using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the habits put forth in Goldsmith's 'What Got You Here Won't Get You There' to identify individual strengths and weaknesses
  • Develop strategies to leverage personnel, finances, facilities, and other resources to maximize programs and services in an ever-changing environment
