Description

Objective:

The course objective is to explore the leadership and management skills necessary to manage and lead a Garrison level Family and MW R Division, their own leadership styles and organization; and apply to 'real-life' challenges. Interact with IMCOM senior leaders and subject matter experts to discover current trends and changing needs in Division level programs and determine the impact on those programs.

Learning Outcomes:

Assess leadership and its influence on an organization using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the habits put forth in Goldsmith's 'What Got You Here Won't Get You There' to identify individual strengths and weaknesses
Devise a plan to improve personal leadership
Develop strategies to leverage personnel, finances, facilities, and other resources to maximize programs and services in an ever-changing environment
Use a systems approach to recreation delivery to formulate a vision that promotes buy-in, incorporates customer needs and external trends, and recognizes and mitigates associated risks
Analyze current and project future trends in business and develop strategies for programming within Family and MWR
