Description

Objective:

The GED® Mathematical Reasoning Test measures a test taker’s ability to apply foundational mathematical knowledge and reasoning skills necessary for high school equivalency, workforce readiness, and postsecondary education.

Skills Measured:

The GED Mathematical Reasoning Test focuses on quantitative and algebraic problem solving, including number sense, ratios, rates, percentages, measurement, data interpretation, expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, and graphing. Test takers are expected to demonstrate conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning practices, including modeling real‑world situations, analyzing problems, constructing and critiquing reasoning, and interpreting results, with emphasis on application rather than rote memorization.

Specific topic areas assessed in the GED Mathematical Reasoning Test include:

• Quantitative problem solving, including number sense, ratios, rates, percentages, measurement, and data interpretation
• Algebraic problem solving, including expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, and graphing
