Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide instruction in theory and application of photographic fundamentals, captioning, optics, light sources, camera operations for controlled and uncontrolled photography, exposing, and processing. Electronic imaging with digital cameras, imaging-editing and captioning software. Training includes theory and applications applied to image transmission and archiving and applications for documentation and communication of DoD themes and messages.

  • Use photographic lenses to control image size, depth of field, and focus
  • Demonstrate theory and application of photographic fundamentals
  • Apply DoD Regulations for captioning and transmitting imagery, gather, verify, and write photo captions, optics, light sources and lighting techniques, camera operations for controlled and uncontrolled photography, exposing, digital processing, and printing color images
  • Demonstrate electronic imaging with digital cameras, imaging and graphic software, image transmission, archiving, and editing
  • Apply DoD guidelines concerning ethics, copyright restrictions and other legal issues affected by electronic imaging processes
  • Use direct and off camera flash techniques
  • Apply creative techniques to enhance images
  • Create balanced compositions for photographic stories
