Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide students with the knowledge to make an educated analysis of a calibration system and verify its compliance to applicable standards. The course delivers to the students the information needed to perform an evaluation of a supplier's calibration system. The outcome of this class will be the ability to make risk and product acceptance decisions related to product presented by the supplier.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize the importance of calibration standards and guides, including: ISO 17025 - general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories; ISO 10012 – Measurement management systems – Requirements for measurement processes and measuring equipment; and ANSI Z540 – Calibration Laboratories and Measuring and Test Equipment – General Requirements
  • Recognize when the intervals of calibration and calibration procedures have been managed in accordance with the supplier's documented procedures
  • recognize the importance of calibration to quality assurance
  • And ANSI Z540 - calibration laboratories and measuring and test equipment - general requirements
  • Audit the supplier's calibration records against the standard's requirements
  • Select the written description of a supplier's calibration system that meets the standard's requirements
