Description

Objective:

The course objective is designed to ensure Software Professionals (SPs) have the knowledge and understanding of the application of the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Software Acquisition Management Instruction (SAMI). This course aims to provide SPs a better understanding of how to apply DCMA Software Acquisition Management (SAM) policy and information in the performance of their daily duties. Students should be aware that CME 250 was developed for DCMA and uses DCMA document templates. Class instruction concentrates upon the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) or common principles which apply across all services.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain statutory laws, federal regulatory guidance, and DCMA policy with regard to their applicability to the Software Professional’s (SP’s) role in software surveillance on behalf of the Government
  • Given contract-related artifacts and applicable checklist(s), conduct an abbreviated Contract Receipt and Review (CRR) to update a Surveillance Plan in accordance with DCMA policy
  • Given contract-related artifacts and a list of Key Contract Requirements (KCRs), risk assess each to update your Surveillance Plan in accordance with DCMA policy
  • Explain the surveillance categories and techniques in accordance with DCMA policy documents
  • Given contract-related artifacts and applicable surveillances documentation, complete a Surveillance Record in accordance with DCMA policy
  • Summarize commonly practiced Software Development Methodologies (SDM), models and lifecycles to explain how each might be used to align DCMA surveillance activities
  • Explain the impact of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) on DCMA Software Surveillance activities
  • Given a scenario, describe DCMA’s Software Acquisition Management (SAM) activities associated with each program software development phase in accordance with DCMA policy
