The course objective is for acquiring research and development items within Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines, students will cover the fundamental principles, specialized procurement methods, contract strategies and legal considerations pertinent to the acquisition of research and development items not addressed in the CON certification training program. Students will embark on a series of online training courses that provide a holistic understanding of federally funded research and development centers, processes, programs, policies and regulations associated with acquiring research and development requirements using both Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)-based regulations and non-FAR based regulations such as 2 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 200 and Dept of Defense (DoD) Grant and Agreement Regulations. Students explore the pre-award, award and post-award processes specific to acquiring research and development requirements under non-FAR based regulations, ensuring a thorough comprehension of the intricacies involved in this specialized procurement area.
