Description

Objective:

The course objective is to teach students computer basics, network theory, and input/output device identification and function. The course is tailored for professionals currently working in or aspiring to careers in computer intrusion investigations, information assurance, and digital evidence examination. Students explore common operating system functionality and the use of the command line in Microsoft Windows. The course material and practical exercises introduce troubleshooting, security, and safety terminology and techniques, complete with the physical disassembly and reassembly of a computer.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Disassemble and reassemble a computer system that boots an operating system using proper safety and troubleshooting measures.
  • Build a functional virtual machine that boots to an operating system.
  • Manipulate files and folders to complete required actions using Windows command-line and GUI tools.
