Learning Outcomes: Differentiate between the basic administrative concepts, structure, and internal processes of Windows and Linux operating systems given virtual simulations. Select the type of data transmissions for the appropriate networking protocol to manage an established network using a variety of job aids. Determine the best cybersecurity defense practices to meet common security standards given a scenario in a virtual system. Summarize basic features and functions for Windows/Linux internal systems. Summarize the common features and functions of embedded systems. Summarize basic security considerations and impacts for embedded systems. Demonstrate the basic steps to provision and create snapshots of virtual machines. Summarize key concepts of virtual machine technologies. Configure a Linux VM on a Windows OS. Explain the tools and functions employed in network systems management (for example, end-to-end systems performance monitoring). Compare different types of network communications (for example, WAN and LAN), their bandwidths, functions, and associated equipment. Describe the structure and methods of data communication across a computer network (for example, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] model and Open Systems Interconnection [OSI] model). Choose the appropriate steps to satisfy STIG compliance specifications on a network segment. Characterize components of a modern wireless communications network (for example, cellular, satellite, and GSM). Classify common encryption algorithms. Summarize the components of data communications (for example, networking protocols, Ethernet, IP, encryption, optical devices, and removable media). Simulate responding to potential vulnerabilities. Select the basic steps to enact data capture and logging processes on a network segment.
