Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide the student with an understanding of computer concepts and a practical working knowledge of the operating system and common business applications. Additionally the course provides an understanding of business communications (e-mail, attachments, printing, PDF files); internet browsing/research; and maintaining an organized file structure using files, folders and shortcuts as well as cloud computing and digital document storage systems.

  • Create a logical and organized directory structure
  • Identify common file extensions/types
  • Use internet tools to research financial and other topics

  • Intro to PC hardware, operating systems, file/directory structures, and binary system
  • Intro to common business applications: using a word-processor, designing and creating a spreadsheet, designing, constructing and querying a database
  • Basic and advanced features of e-mail
  • Use of the internet as a research tool
